Police have confirmed that at least 19 people have been killed and 50 have been injured after explosions near a Manchester stadium where singer Ariana Grande was performing. British authorities regard the incident as a terrorist attack.

According to security forces in Manchester, the area has been evacuated while investigating the causes of the explosions, which were reported by attendees to the show.

In a statement posted on Twitter, Manchester Police have confirmed that the situation "is being treated as a terrorist incident", adding that it will be so "until police know otherwise".

"Please avoid the area while the emergency services work at the scene of the incident" they said, adding that they will publish more details "as soon as possible."

Shortly before, witnesses quoted by the British television channel Sky News indicated that there had been an "explosion" in the place.

Likewise, witnesses quoted by the British news agency Reuters have reported that they heard a "big explosion" when people began to leave the place after the concert, causing scenes of panic in the subway station, as reflected in the following 'Tweet':

The British Railways Network has announced via Twitter that Manchester Victoria train station has been evacuated and closed, and they add: "the disruption is expected to continue until the end of the day".
