Isaac Pola (Oviedo, 1963) will be the new Asturian Minister of Employment, Industry and Tourism. The man from Oviedo, a mining engineer Doctor, will replace Francisco Blanco who has resigned this week with the intention of recovering his position as professor of Public Finance at the University of Oviedo, as LA NUEVA ESPAÑA anticipated. Pola is a good knowledgeable of the regional Ministry, of its intricacies and accumulates a great experience. All these characteristics have had a determinant weight for choosing him. He was, until now Director of Mining and Energy, a position that has occupied in several stages. First between 2007 and 2011 under the Government of Vicente Álvarez Areces, and then from 2012 until today, with Javier Fernández at the head of the Principality. The man with a a slow tone has experience as a mathematics teacher and as director of industrial infrastructures at the Institute for Regional Economic Development (Idepa).

The name of the new regional minister was announced last night, hours after Blanco justified his decision to leave his post. The man from Gijón tried yesterday to disconnect his resignation from the results of the primaries of the PSOE in Madrid, that have returned the general secretariat of the party to Pedro Sánchez. "I have never been publicly in favor of any of the candidates. I have attended rallies and meetings of different orientation to listen to colleagues, but I have never spoken in favor of one or the other", the regional minister said in front of the door of his office in a brief appearance with which he tried to shed light on his leaving. The regional minister had supported Sánchez months ago, during the socialist campaign he supported Patxi López and went to some "sanchista" rally. "My resignation is a decision that I had already taken several weeks ago. It has been rumored that I may have certain political positions, but these are independent issues", he said, "my willing is to return to the university".

Blanco emphatically denied tensions with Javier Fernández, the regional President, who until Sunday was the leader of the national managing group of the PSOE and one of the supports of Susana Díaz to reach the general secretariat. In fact, he claimed to have "felt supported" by Fernández in his work at the head of the regional Ministry. "I also want to thank him for the trust he placed on me", he said. It was not the only denial he made. He also denied having any internal problems in his department. "The working relationship with my team is not only good, but it is great and almost a friendship", he said.
