I have nothing to hide; I hope that the one who did it pays for it". These are the resounding words of J. L. O., from Coaña, the last person with whom Paz Fernández, the woman who was killed on Tuesday in the Arbón reservoir, was seen last February 13th before her disappearance. "We were very good friends for years, I lived in Gijón, I worked there and she had a store nearby", JLO explains, who acknowledges that people in Navia are suspicious of him because he was seen that afternoon with his friend Paz, having some drinks in two bars: San Francisco and Cantábrico.
J. L. O. speaks with LA NUEVA ESPAÑA and defends himself. He explains that the aforementioned afternoon, like many others, the two of them met. "We met in San Francisco and then we went to the Cantábrico bar, we were together until six p.m. and then I told her to come in for dinner with my mother and me, but she never arrived". They had to meet around nine p.m. so that the woman from Gijón would have dinner at JLO´s, but a little before the agreed time she texted him on WhatsApp and "she seemed upset, nervous, and she had an evident change of attitude". Even so, her friend insisted, told her to calm down and encouraged her to meet him for dinner. "But I realised she was not coming, so I started to call her and she did not answer, after insisting several times she picked up the phone, but another call came in and she hung up, that was the last thing I knew about her", JLO explains, adding: " As I have to follow a medical treatment to the letter because I had surgery in my leg, and seeing that she was not coming, I fell asleep right away".
The day after the disappearance of the woman from Gijón, J. L. O. received a phone call from the San Francisco hostel. "They told me that my girlfriend's dog was wandering around, I told them she was not my girlfriend, if she was so, she would be with me at home". The data about the wandering dog and that Paz Fernandez still did not answer the phone made J. L. O. to be alarmed and decided to go to the hostel where his friend had supposedly slept.
Once at the San Francisco hostel, JLO asked one of the employees to "please check if she was in her room". They came in and she was not there, indeed, "I had lent her a heater so that she would not be cold and it was melted, she hadn´t spent the night there. Then I started to be really worried", J. L. O. says. The man from Coaña explains that Paz Fernández and he were just friends". I already told the judicial police: we never had a relationship other than a friendship. I feel a huge respect for Paz and her family; also we both have children of similar ages and that's why we used to meet when I went to Gijón to see my son. A normal relationship between friends", he specifies.
The judicial police are close to the murderer or murderers of Paz Fernandez, in fact JLO said that the agents showed him a robot portrait of a person that he has not been able to identify and that could coincide with the author of the call that the victim received while talking with her friend, with whom she never came to have dinner that night.
The last sign of Paz Fernández's mobile phone appears in Busmargalí, eight kilometres away from the Arbón reservoir, where the corpse of the woman from Gijon appeared floating on Tuesday, with her skull shattered.
