"We are sorry, so sorry, about what happened, and we understand Paz Fernández Borrego´s family pain [whose body was found with signs of violence last Tuesday, 6th, in Abdon dam]. If our brother is really proved to be guilty, we understand that it is unforgivable. But we ask for respect to Ledo Ovide´s family; and that people should understand that what a person may have done must not be paid by the rest of his family". Is the message that Javier Ledo´s family wants to pass on through LA NUEVA ESPAÑA. He is the only arrestee, so far, for Paz Fernández Borrego´s violent death. The sisters of the only arrestee for the Abdon crime assure that they are going through an ordeal, "they are sinking us", they say, and claim understanding towards the family of the main suspect, "who are not involved at all in what he has or has not done". Otherwise, they appeal to justice to determine whether Javier Ledo is or is not guilty; and thank the Civil Guard their behaviour and the attention paid during these days.
His sisters are sunk, cocooning their parents in these "so difficult" days. "We feel very badly. It is unpleasant to think that a brother of yours may have committed such a barbarity. Whether he has done or not other things, is not forgivable, either. But this is too much, it the utmost that can be done in this world; and if he is guilty, for us it is unforgivable", they claim. The family does not want to speak about the process, and they trust the security forces and the courts to clear out the case. "If he is guilty, he must pay for it. And we believe that in such situation, any punishment he may have will not repair the damage he can have caused, to that girl and to all her family. That is something we perfectly understand, and we express heart in hand", they point out.
Ledo´s family is wide, and from their roots in Llosoiro they extend to all the county and all Asturias. They confess to be "sunk" for the situation they are going through after Javier Ledo´s arrest. "Under the name of Ledo Ovide there are many people, and we are honest, hard-working and we respect everybody. If one of them may have done what he did in the past or now, the rest of us must not pay for it", they point out. And they make a call so that the media and the individuals "stop to think that they are humiliating a whole family, not only to one person", they emphasize.
They refer with this to the information which have come up during the last days in different media about alleged crimes which the now arrestee would have committed in the past. "The applicable reports should have been made when that happened, but we consider it inappropriate to do it now", Ledo´s relatives assert, who also claim that Javier Ledo´s brother has been shown up again, who is at present serving a sentence in prison. "He did what he did, and now he is paying for it. His family deserves the case to be solved out".
Finally, the family announces that they will not make more statement to the media, and ask for respect at the current situation Ledo´s parents are going through: "There is one ill elder, and our mother feels very badly; for a mother it is a great shock, and she has enough without having to put up with all this", they warn. "You can save all the journeys to Llosoiro and the phone calls. We do not have anything else to say", they conclude.
